College!

1. Majors
  • Sports and Fitness Administration Major- In this major its more than just a sport. You have to learn how to manage a major team or sport. You use business or legal practices to run a facility or team.
  • Athletic Training Major- I would like a career that is more hands on. In this career you learn how to advise athletes from injuries. You learn how to heal a person in case of an injury. You would use various instruments. You teach athletes how to warm up to avoid injury.
  • Advertising Major- You get to advertise different products. You learn how to make media campaigns. You get to be creative with your ideas. You have to promote and spread the message.
2. Colleges
  • For the sports and fitness administration major I think would pick CSU East Bay. This school offers a bachelors and masters degree. Out of all the applicants, 72% get accepted. 26% of the student body is Hispanic, that's a plus.
  • For the athletic training major I would pick the College of the Canyons. I would pick this school because it is nearby and they offer what I am looking for. The offer an associates degree.
  • For the advertising major I would pick the Art Center College of Design. They offer a n associates and masters degree. 60% of the people that apply get accepted. Another plus is that it is not that far.

Even & Odd Functions

Well even functions are functions that are symmetrical to the y axis. It is pretty much a refection.

Odd functions are symmetrical to the origin. The equation is f(-x)= f(x) the output will end up being the same.

Tips & Hints

1. For transformations I remember it in several ways. For example when it is (x-5), you would move the graph left 5 units. It's pretty much always the opposite of what it looks like.

Another example would be (x-5) -7. In this equation you already know to shift it left 5 but then what about the -7 outside of the parenthesis. The number outside makes it shift vertically down 7 units.

2. For trig its all about memorizing and utilizing the unit circle. For the 4th quadrant I remember that you have to multiply by 2 and then subtract 1. Thats an easy way to remember it. The zeros are the easiest thing to remember on the circle, they are (1,0) (0,1) (-1,0) (0,-1). In quadrant 1 all the values are positive. Also for the unit circle an easy tip to remember is that most of it is just mirrored. For example the numbers 6 4 3 2 are all mirrored.

3. One thing that still confuses me is how to graph the sin and cos. Also how to graph the inverse. I still don't understand it.

Logs and Inverses


This week i learned different things. With logs i learned that its just a different way to write an exponent. For example, 2^3=8. In logarithmic form it is shown as log2(8)=3. I also learned about e and natural log or ln. To solve some equation you can cancel out e and ln.

For inverses i learned that you have to switch the X and y. you have to solve for one variable then you switch them.

Question:
How do you graph logs?

Hi World! (or anyone reading this). My name is Denny Garcia. Im a junior at Poly H.S. Class of 2011! Blowing the candles on January 28. '93! The main sport is basketball. Go Lakers!
